Mis sur orbite en 2009, le projet RoboBee est d\u00e9j\u00e0 parvenu \u00e0 faire voler des robots de 80 mg, tr\u00e8s semblables aux abeilles, d&rsquo;une envergure de trois centim\u00e8tres. Leurs ailes, capables de battre 120 fois par seconde, sont anim\u00e9es par un muscle cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de mat\u00e9riaux pi\u00e9zo\u00e9lectriques, qui se d\u00e9forment sous l&rsquo;action d&rsquo;une tension \u00e9lectrique. Seule ombre \u00e0 l&rsquo;horizon pour les RoboBees : leur alimentation. Les robots doivent non seulement reproduire le comportement d&rsquo;insectes pris s\u00e9par\u00e9ment, mais aussi le comportement qui \u00e9merge de milliers d&rsquo;abeilles en interaction. L&rsquo;astuce d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e pour le moment s&rsquo;oriente autour de la \u00abruche\u00bb. Les milliers de RoboBees d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s pourraient d\u00e9poser leurs informations dans une m\u00e9moire informatique. Selon un rapport publi\u00e9 par l&rsquo;ONG, \u00abplus de deux tiers des pollens pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s dans les champs et ramen\u00e9s \u00e0 la ruche par les abeilles ouvri\u00e8res seraient contamin\u00e9s\u00bb. Greenpeace explique ainsi dans une vid\u00e9o que \u00able d\u00e9clin des abeilles ne rel\u00e8ve pas de la science-fiction, c&rsquo;est une r\u00e9alit\u00e9\u00bb. La vid\u00e9o met en sc\u00e8ne des abeilles-robots qui fonctionneraient \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie solaire. Une invention qui, selon Greenpeace, pose des questions \u00e9thiques et remet en cause le rapport entre l&rsquo;homme et la nature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La pollinisation n\u2019est pas la seule application escompt\u00e9e des RoboBees. Elles pourraient aussi permettre de rep\u00e9rer et identifier des victimes lors de catastrophes naturelles. Des applications militaires sont par ailleurs possibles. Rien de tel qu\u2019un faux insecte pour reconnaitre, surveiller et rep\u00e9rer des personnes recherch\u00e9es.
